"All of these songs start to sound the same..." is a line from the chorus of one of Woodale's songs. It's funny they should use such a phrase when their material stands apart from the rest. Lead by the powerful and honest vocals of Matt Wilbur, Woodale successfully blends together all of the qualities we've come to look for in a pop/rock band, emotional lyrics that make you feel as if there was an instant bond between you and the band, catchy guitar hooks, and well structured songs.
Woodale found their start in high school, much like many other bands. Though they took some time off here and there, they reemerged onto the music scene two years ago. With only a shell of the band remaining, comprised of Matt, Ryan (drummer), and Jonathan (keyboards and guitar), they quickly went in search of new band mates, but that search wouldn't take them long. Drawing from hometown talent, they picked up Tom Blair, a bassist that helped form the well known Lakeland, FL powerhouse that is Copeland. The next member that would find his way into the band was Adam Pruitt, who the band had known through playing with his previous band, The Gilded Age. These young aspiring musicians would write the five songs that became Finish What You Start.
"A rock band is only as good as their live show, so if we're not touring, we're at home practicing. We make sure we're playing constantly so we stay as tight as possible as a group. If people are paying to see you play, you owe it to them to put on the best performance possible." says Matt Wilbur, in reference to their work ethic and live performance.
