Headquartered in Orlando, FL Silent Majority Group is a boutique record label, focusing on radio-driven mainstream rock acts. Its principals, Jeff Hanson and Rick Schmidt are music industry executives that have a wealth of knowledge of many different aspects of the business.
Jeff Hanson is best known for his highly successful management company, managing the band Creed to over 30 million sales including the Diamond selling Human Clay (10 million of one album) worldwide success. Hanson also managed Alterbridge and Sevendust to Gold albums and sales of approximately 2 million records. His discovery of new talent like Hayley Williams (Paramore) and Chris Daughtry (American Idol / Daughtry) serves to reaffirm his exceptional ear and continued place on the cutting edge of today’s rock music market. At Silent Majority Group, Hanson brings all his experience with successful projects to bear for his fledgling artists.
Radio veteran, Rick Schmidt, has grown radio audiences, expanded traffic for station websites, branded huge station-sponsored events and launched the careers of many a radio-led band in his time running stations in Florida, North and South Carolina and Washington DC. Schmidt’s many honors include a nomination for R&R Active Rock PD of the Year in 2002, being named among the Radio Ink Top 100 Programmers in 2001 and selection for the Clear Channel Programming Leadership Conference from 2004-2006. As most Silent Majority artists’ work leans toward the radio-rock Hanson and Schmidt have favored throughout their careers, Schmidt is able to give the bands that coveted ‘push in the right direction.’
Silent Majority Group also owns Downtown Rivals, a full service merchandise company and manages many of their artists. An avid proponent of new model deals (digital / CD / subscription based hybrid deals), Silent Majority Group does 50/50 joint venture recording and royalty deals with all their artists. The label is distributed through the Warner Music Group / Independent Label Group / ADA.
With releases from FRAMING HANLEY, COURSE OF NATURE, FOSTERCHILD and TANTRIC on the horizon, the Silent Majority will be making a whole lot of noise in 2007-2008!
